A gentle way back into community life.

My Mind Matters CIC is a Southport community interest company. We run The Old Bakehouse coffee shop (opens in a new tab), where people rebuilding confidence, managing mental health or neurodiversity can volunteer, train and be part of something, with no pressure.

Opening doors that are usually closed

Most organisations only take on volunteers who already have confidence, experience or stability. We do the opposite. Our founder, Maz Langshaw, spent a career in banking and spent twenty years wanting to open a coffee shop that doubles as a community hub with a purpose.

We welcome people who need structure, purpose or a slow, supported return to community life. Our volunteers are not extra hands. They set the atmosphere and carry our values, and when they are given safety and trust, they flourish.
